Message #327 "A True Son In the Faith" - Acts 16:1-5 Sunday, June 10 2018 Last week we examined the dispute between Paul and Barnabas, friends and co-laborers who had known one another for roughly a decade and served together for about seven years. The duo divided and formed two teams to check on the believers they served about five years ago on the first missionary journey. This week we take a look at Timothy, who is first introduced to us here in Acts 16. Our study will center on the following question: What does it look like for a believer to have a fruitful life? We will also delve into what it means to be a disciple. James 1:22 encouragement: (1) Pray and read through Matthew 13:18-23; 2 Timothy 2:3-15; 2 Timothy 3:10-12 (2) as you read, consider what biblical expectations God will produce in us as He makes us fruitful. - For example, in the Matthew 13 passage, what kinds of things interfere with receiving the word of God? And what is the difference between the one who hears fruit, and the other three who don't? - In the 2 Timothy 2 passage, what is the believer expected to endure? - In the 2 Timothy 3 passage, in what ways does God desire to make our lives worthy of imitation? What are the characteristics of a life that can be carefully followed?
