Stones of Remembrance
1985
God started working in the heart of our founding pastor, Jim O'Keefe, to fulfill his calling to ministry while he lived in Southern California. He was serving under Pastor Greg Laurie, senior Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, Riverside. In 1985 God drew Jim O'Keefe to start a new work for Harvest in the nation's capital. Responding to this call, he moved his young family to Northern Virginia, where he started an evening Bible study. That simple gathering grew to become Harvest Christian Fellowship of Greater Washington, DC with Jim O'Keefe serving as Senior Pastor joined later by Noel Wetter joined him as the Associate Pastor.
1996
In the early years of Harvest in Northern Virginia, the church met in temporary facilities. In 1996, the fellowship purchased a home at Isaac Newton Square in Reston, Virginia. The facility provided a place for regular fellowship, worship and counseling throughout the week, with classroom and office space. The church continues to meet at this location to this day.
2012
Tommy O'Keefe, Pastor Jim's son, became the Senior Pastor when Jim Stepped down from full-time pastoral ministry to establish a new ministry founded upon the call of Ephesians 4:12 "to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up." The ministry is called Equipping The Saints - 412. Jim now imparts the experience and wisdom given by God to other pastors and teachers across the country and around the world, preaching and teaching - equipping leaders to serve and equipping servants to lead.
2014
Tom O'Keefe, following a calling of God to reach the people in the inner city with the Gospel, stepped down from his Pastor position at Harvest and moved his young family to Washington DC, where he now serves through Bible studies and church ministries in the inner city. It was at this time that Harvest Christian Fellowship changed its name to Calvary Chapel Reston Station in keeping with the original association with the Calvary Chapel Association of Churches under the leadership of Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa and Pastor Chuck Smith.
2015
After a short period without a permanent pastor, one more stone was laid when Pastor Sean Adinig became the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Reston Station. Sean came to CCRS from a local Calvary Chapel, with a clear calling upon his life for teaching the Word and shepherding the people of God for ministry, service and sharing the Gospel with the World. We’ve continued in fellowship under his pastoral care since this time and have been consistently blessed through his expository preaching of the Word of God.
2022
Our elders ushered CCRS into 2022 by trusting the Lord’s providence throughout COVID, and adapting with livestreaming and virtual support. While we experienced vitality and fellowship after COVID within our church community, we are trusting God in His leading in our final chapter. Pastor Sean Adinig received a new calling to join a central Virginia Calvary Chapel as a staff pastor, and our elders and body sought the Lord in intensive prayer to uncover our next steps. The Lord answered these prayers through a swift and decisive plan to move Trinity Church (Virginia Beach) into the Northern Virginia area. Teaching Pastor Randy Singer led this transition in September 2022. You can now find Trinity Church at the Issac Newton Square location. We are glad to trust God, and rest assured that the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ continues at this place for all of Reston, VA, and the world.
